Homes For All

Homes for All: South Orange County (South OC) is a collective of community members and community based organizations, including Welcoming Neighbor’s Home,  working together to advocate for the building of more affordable homes in South Orange County. Now, as a wider reaching initiative, Homes For All: South OC  continues to connect community members with the necessary tools to become community leaders and champions for affordable housing solutions right in their backyard.

The Homes For All initiative was created in 2023 by the Equity in Orange County (EiOC) grant from the Orange County Department of Health. Through this initiative, Lake Forest community members were empowered through a series of workshops on a multitude of topics surrounding land use, housing policy, and advocacy. Since the closing of this grant, community leaders have utilized their knowledge to build a movement in their communities by advocating to local and state elected representatives, marching in the 2024 City of Lake Forest 4th of July parade, and expanding advocacy efforts to the Greater South OC area.

The Homes For All collective has come together to empower our local community through educational workshops regarding affordable housing in both Lake Forest and in South Orange County. These workshops have been attended by local community members and non-profit organizations who are enthusiastic to become involved in advocating for the building of more affordable housing in our communities. Through various workshop series, the Homes For All coalition has helped build a more informed and united community, ready to continue advocating for affordable housing and work toward lasting change.

Mission Statement:

We believe that housing provides a foundation for: people to have healthier lives and feel secure, children to be more successful in learning, workers to be more productive, and for residents to be more engaged in civic life.
